Ask the Doctor

Every quarter I will be writing a column on a health and excercise related topic at the request of a Diamondback Fitness customer. I am excited that I can do this for you and I hope you find it of value.

About Dr. Ruman: Andrea Ruman is a Board Certified Doctor of Internal Medicine and an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Ruman's practice is based in Marina del Rey, California.  You can visit her on the web at www.DrRuman.com.

The Dangers of Acetaminophen (aka Tylenol)

You've no doubt read a lot of bad press about the class of anti inflammatories called COX 2 inhibitors (does the name VIOXX ring a bell?).  Yet one only has to look as far as the over the counter medication aisle of your local grocery store to find a very common potential danger, acetaminophen.

Osteoporosis and Exercise

There is a lot of misunderstanding as to exactly what osteoporosis is, who it affects, how it’s diagnosed and most importantly, how it is prevented.

Here's some news that I think you can use!
Knee Injuries in Women

Wendy W. of Santa Monica CA asks Dr. Ruman: "It seems like all my women friends have some knee complaint or issue. Are women more prone to knee inuries than men or are my friends and I just a particularly unlucky lot?"
